The founder of Alpha Camp is Songxin An active youth in Bukit Panjang Methodist Church, her aim is to use the camp to spread the Word of God through thought provoking; fun-filled activities. But what actually spurred her into organising this youth camp? Songxin said that it was after attending an outreach camp at PeiSze's Kota Tinggi Church called “年少活力”. Through her serving and helping out at the camp, she then thought of organising one annual outreach camp in our church. The first group of people who supported her were the church members who attended 年少活力. A first camp was held in June 2001. Many thanks to Hong Hong, Sharon, PeiSze, Jiafa, and Zeng nan dao shi. Troubles did arise during the initial stages of planning. After much thought and consideration, they realised there was a need to change the mindset of the youths and the elders of the church for the need of an outreach camp. Fortunately, she now sees that many issues have changed during the past 5 years. Songxin is very thankful for the blessings that God has showered upon the youth ministry, each committee, the growth of each inidividual camper, as well as the smooth execution of the programs during each and every camp. Its amazing to see how God always answers our prayer for good weather so that the Alpha campers can enjoy themselves. She cannot fully describe this utmost gratitude she has in her, but her inability to participate wholeheartedly does sadden her a little.
